Universal Studios Orlando Resort comprises of two theme parks: Universal Studios Florida and Universal's Island of Adventure.

Universal Studios Florida is full of movie themed rides, featuring rides and attractions themed around Shrek, The Simpsons, Jaws, Terminator, Men in Black, Twister and many more.

Universal's Island of Adventure is of a similar set up, where rides are based upon familiar names such as Dr Seuss, Marvel Comics characters, Jurassic Park, and more. This park appears to be aimed more towards the younger generation with the older generations perhaps preferring the fast paced thrill of the original park. Nevertheless, it is still packed with fun things to see and do.

Consider buying Express pass plus if you are visiting Universal Studios Orlando. These are on top of standard tickets and allow you to queue jump using priority lanes on participating rides. If you have a limited amount of time to spend at Universal, these tickets are worthwhile. Remember that these are on top of standard tickets so you will need to buy entry tickets as well.

We visited first thing in the morning which is a sensible idea. It was relatively quiet with queue lengths of around 5-10 minutes for most rides. After lunch, queue lengths had jumped to 60-70 minutes for rides in both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.
Top Tip! We bought a pair of Orlando FlexTicket's from 365 Tickets and found them to be great value, especially as you can use them as often as you like. We would recommend you buy all your part tickets, the Orlando FlexTicket or the Orlando FlexTicket Plus from a company such as 365 Tickets a few weeks before you fly. You'll save time, hassle and money.
Several places sold park tickets on International Drive although the prices of these, whilst better than direct from the theme parks, were significantly more expensive than pre-booking on the Internet.
The fact that we had a FlexTicket meant we ended up spreading our visits over 2 mornings. This meant we could do everything we wanted quickly without having to wait an eternity in a queue. This also freed up the afternoons to explore other parks and International Drive.
